Moe Asch founder of Folkways Records. Folkways was very influential in bringing folk music into the American mainstream. They carried a large number of Woody Guthrie’s catalogue. Folkways Records released over 2,000 recordings between the years 1949 and 1987, spanning many genres, including jazz, folk, classical, avant-garde, and world music. They never allowed any recording to go out of print regardless of lack of sales.
