Mr. Bonneville says it took him three years to write this song. Maybe his work as a cab driver and bush pilot armed him with the insights he used to inhabit it. Blindness in perilous atmospheric conditions is something aviators deal with constantly. An apt personal metaphor which hovers in the artfully referenced phases of Ray’s life flight pattern. “What was it I just couldn’t see?” It’s a piece in which the drums seem to stumble along as we often do trying to navigate relationships.
