The Bop Shop 10.26.23 -Little Willie John-

little willie john, “my love is”

from: sure thing, 1957

My love, my love is a mountainside
So firm, so firm it can calm the tide
My love for you is a mountainside
It stands so firm it can calm the tide

That’s why my love, my love is a mountainside
My love, my love is an ocean roar
So strong, so strong that I can’t let you go
My love for you is an ocean roar

It’s grown so strong that I can’t let you go
That’s why my love, my love is an ocean roar
My love is longer than forever
And endless as the laws of time

Till ninety nine years and for never
In my heart you will still be mine!
Because my love
My love is a deep bluе sea

So deep, so deep that I’ll never bе free
My love for you is a deep blue sea
It’s grown so strong that I’ll never be free
That’s why my love, my love is a deep blue sea

My love my love, my love is a deep blue sea
My love my love, my love is a mountainside
My love, my love is goin’ so strong
And that I’ll never leave thee

My love my love
My love my love
My love my love
My love my love

For some unknown reason I recently rewatched John Sayles film “Lone Star.” I’m glad I did because in addition to being an engrossing story, I discovered this song in its soundtrack. A soundtrack that was produced by Worcester born guitar wizard Duke Levine. What a giant song atmosphere! Mr. Littlejohn has filled in the blanks by wading into the basic food groups of human emotion. By equating his love with a mountain and the ocean he has entered the timeless territory of largess. So he went big and you can to. He got into some dodgy behavior in his personal affairs and passed away in the Washington State Penitentiary at the age of 30.
