The Bop Shop 10.8.23 -Glenn Phillips-

glenn Phillips “i feel better already”

from: lost at sea, 1975

It’s hard to set the superlatives in place properly to introduce you to Atlanta guitarist Glenn Phillips. “I Feel Better Already” to my hearing of it, is a Mariachi tune with impressionist metal flair. It explores techniques of dynamic range, loud and soft, working through agony and yet transformatively peaceful. The exact personal troubles Glenn was experiencing during the making of this record are unknown to me, but in the liner notes he mentions being “Lost At Sea.” And who among us has not felt so. But we go on. His guitarring blisteres through difficulty and lives to tell the tale.

Glenn’s 1968 band said to have been the second-lowest selling album in Columbia's history, second only to a yoga instructional record.
