I don’t know if Andy Irvine is the Woody Guthrie of Irish folk music but his earned renown gets him damn close. Superlatives are not lost on him, having been the moving force behind the great Irish bands Planxty and Patrick Street. His solo career presses on with occasional visits to our shores. Master instrumentalist and vocalist, his discography is populated with historical chestnuts and modern reinventions of traditional forms. In these posts I often include drawings of the artist in question. The drawing of Mr. Irvine is completed by Finn Harper. Incomparable work.
