Flaco has been a prince of musical embellishment. He’s the favorite son of accordion session players on hundreds of records, always with the right touch, mood, energy, passion and economy of phrasing. But it’s his work with Ry Cooder that seems to best demonstrate his special mastery, blending the wealth of Tex-Mex traditions deftly into existing folk, country and rock.
