The Bop Shop 5.2.23 - Julie Driscoll

julie driscoll, “from vauxhall to lambeth bridge,”

from: Streetnoise, 1968

There are a plethora of forgotten female vocal figures in modern British musical history. Linda Thompson, Norma Waterson, Maggie Nichols, Anne Briggs and Kate Rusby come immediately to mind. But Julie Driscoll would be, in my humble estimation, near the top. Her 1968 record with Brian Auger and the Trinity, Streetnoise showcases the range, depth, progressive phrasing and emotional power of her talents. Listen to see her.
