us 69, “yesterdays folks”
from: yesterdays folks, 1969
The name of the band(US '69) had a quick expiration date (But what are we gonna do in 1970?) and their Buddah Lp stands as a masterpiece of soulful, funky psychedelia. More sophisticated than the Garage Bands of the time, both in terms of the song writing and arrangements, this album went straight from the pressing plant to the cut-out bins. It was also released on Quad 8-track and Playtape ( talk about an obsolete format), which indicates that the record company thought they might have a hit on their hands.
I don't believe the record has ever caught the ear of the musical archeologists who have exhumed many an inferior artifact and elevated them to collector's status. Being from Connecticut may not have helped.
