The Bop Shop 5.11.23 - Youssou N'dour

Youssou ndour “birima,”

from: joko: The Link, 2000

N”Dour, born in Senegal in 1959 is one of the most celebrated musicians in the history of Africa. He has released over 40 albums and during the 80’s 14 cassettes (they were ubiquitous in Africa). Birima is from his compact disc, Joko: The Link released in 2000. In 2012 he planned to run in the Senegalese presidential election but was disqualified due to the legitimacy of signatures he had collected. For eighteen months he was the Senegalese Minister of Tourism. There are at least three different YouTube videos of this song. All are worth a listen.
