You sure have to admire Ornette for having the chutzpah to call his 3rd record ever, “The Shape of Jazz To Come.” He had a predilection for playing gayly colored saxophones. Witness the yellow one on this lp. Iconic players featured include, Charlie Haden bass, Billy Higgins, drums and Don Cherry cornet. It came about in 1959 and not a moment too soon. Jazz needed a new shape and it had arrived.
