The Bop Shop 6.17.23 - Gustavo Santaolalla

Gustavo santaolalla, El ronroco

from: You tube

Argentinean, Gustavo Santaolalla is best known for his many scores to films directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and the Academy Awards won for his scores for Brokeback Mountain and Babel, but my fondness for his music was sparked by his solo recording Ronroco in 1998.

His preferred instrument is the ronroco (rron-rrow-co), an instrument invented in the 1980’s by a Bolivian Folk Group. It is larger than the ukulele like charango with 10 pairs of strings. Enjoy his marvelous playing and check out Ronroco on your favorite streaming service.
